Overview
Among the key decorative styles of the early 20th century, Art Deco arose just as the West's fascination with Egypt reached its peak; its signature motifs included numerous borrowings from ancient Egyptian design. It is particularly appropriate, then, that guests boarding 'Sun Boat IV' are greeted with a stunning Art Deco-inspired interior, conceived by A&K Vice Chairman Jorie Butler Kent and executed by Egyptian designer Mohammed Naoman. Panoramic, floor-to-ceiling windows on most decks grant sweeping views of the Nile's fertile shore; watch as grasses rustle in the wind, and vibrant, red lotus flowers appear in the fall. Rich, warm teak flooring graces all of the vessel's outdoor spaces, lending a regal but welcoming air. Modern comforts coexist in harmony with vintage decoration: for example, all cabins are air-conditioned and feature flatscreen televisions and direct-dial international telephones. A multi-language library also includes an Internet-ready computer for keeping in touch with home.
